Taieri College, Dunedin (age 13 - 18)
Taieri College is a Year 7 to 13 co-educational state college with superb facilities, highly skilled teachers and outstanding results in national assessments. With a tradition of schooling stretching back to 1864, the Taieri community has always embraced learning. Students are supported to grow and develop into worthwhile, confident and capable citizens.
Dunedin is New Zealand's best kept secret, located in the South Island this city is full of authentic welcoming characters that tell it like it is. With abundant wildlife on its door step and heritage buildings. Dunedin is New Zealand’s first city for students and education. Taieri College is situated in Mosgiel, a suburb of Dunedin separated from the city by hills.
Taieri College is a co-educational school as we believe that boys and girls best learn in a real life situation. Real life involves both sexes. The research that is available does not show any evidence that boys or girls learn better in a single sex environment. Our results show quite clearly that our students consistently reach or exceed the national picture for similar co-educational schools or for single sex schools.

We participate in the Academic Plus with Volunteering programme
At Taieri College we embrace a very diverse student body and we embrace the oppourtunities that hosting international students gives us to learn a new culture.
Senior Programme
Students begin to specialise at this level and we prepare all our Year 11 students to achieve NCEA Level 1. We aim to meet the diverse needs of our learners by providing alternative programmes and offering support for individual students. At Year 12 and 13 we are able to offer vocational and academic programmes as well as individualising a course of study involving work experience, work exploration and GATEWAY.
We recognise that students in our Senior College are young adults and we endeavour to support them to make good choices and to consolidate a strong foundation for their future career. Individualised programmes can be created.
Junior Programme
Students at Taieri College are given the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects from Years 7-10 igniting their interests, allowing them to discover their strengths and make informed decisions when it comes to selecting senior courses.
We place particular emphasis on covering the Technology and Arts programme over the four years and create the opportunity for students to learn another language. All Science programmes are delivered by specialist Science teachers using laboratories. Year 7 and Year 8 students are home roomed in specially designed classrooms. At Year 9 and 10 students follow a more traditional secondary structured day.
