The Certificate in Foundation Sound and Music is a 34-week programme designed to prepare students for further successful study. There is a focus on developing improved music, communication, literacy, numeracy, computer and self-directed study skills. Throughout the year students have contact with tutors from the Audio and Music departments as well as guest speakers and performers active in the music industry.
Certificate in Contemporary Music Performance (34 weeks)
Fee: NZ$ 18,000
The Certificate is a 34-week programme consisting of regular instrument tuition, band rehearsals, and a mix of theory and practical activities. There is a strong emphasis on preparing students for the entertainment industry by tutors who are ‘real world’ musicians and regular guest speakers who are well known figures from the music industry.
Certificate in Music (Introductory) (16 weeks)

If you have a passion for all things musical, this programme will equip you with the skills you need for higher-level study and a successful career in music composing, performing, producing or teaching. The Certificate in Music (Introductory) improves your understanding of musical history and styles from New Zealand and beyond, lets you experiment with new music technologies, and helps you find out how to turn your love of sound, composition and music technology into a rewarding career as a musician or in the music-related industries.
