A Great Location
Northcote College is situated in New Zealand's largest city of Auckland. The climate is pleasant with mild winters and warm summers. The school is approximately 10 minutes from Auckland City and close to tertiary institutions such as Auckland and Massey Universities and the Auckland University of Technology.
Students are encouraged to take part in sport. An elite sports programme includes personalised programmes for students performing at the top level of their sport. Sport is seasonal. Sports may be available at local clubs e.g. fitness, judo, canoeing, sailing.
Music
The school's excellent music department has achieved at national level. The Jazz band has won exceptional national awards including 11 Best Band awards. Performance music opportunities and instrumental tuition is available. Choir, Singing Groups, Orchestra, Ensembles, Barbershop, Jazz Band.
Drama
The Northcote College award winning drama department has annual high quality productions. Awards include : 2010. 1st Auckand Open Stage Challenge. 2009 2nd Auckland Stage Challenge Success in national Shakespeare competitions, 2004, 2005,2006. Students selected to travel to the London Globe Theatre, England in 2007,2006,2009.
The school offers a wide range of subjects which prepare students for national qualifications and further education.
Northcote College is a well resourced school. The school campus is 9 hectares. Facilities include 2 gymnasiums, a heated swimming pool, specialist teaching areas, all weather playing area, a music block with practice rooms, computer rooms, a library with internet connection, a well equipped video suite, technology centre, and photography rooms. Specialist classrooms include science laboratories and rooms for Food Technology, Fabric and Graphics. The large school grounds are filled with gardens and trees.
Northcote College students are accepted at all tertiary institutions. Students can take subjects at more than one level. For example a student with strong mathematics ability may study mathematics at a level above their other subjects.

National Scholarship Examinations
Scholarship is the most challenging examination for Year 13 students and only for the very top students. Students choose to challenge themselves academically with these very demanding examinations and we are pleased to report that Northcote College students achieve considerable success.
