Update from Immigration New Zealand on student visas

From 10 August 2020, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is not accepting visa applications from students outside New Zealand for a period of three months. INZ will reassess this decision in November 2020 depending on further information about when the border will open.

Applications will continue to be processed for new and currently enrolled international students who are already in New Zealand.

INZ advises that once reprocessing begins, existing and new visa applications will be processed according to the priorities set by the New Zealand Government. It recommends that students do not undergo a medical examination unless advised to do so by INZ.

Students who have an existing student visa application can apply to Immigration New Zealand to withdraw their application and they can request a fee refund. Refund requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Educational institutes in New Zealand will continue to accept applications for admission and to issue Offers of Place. Information about current visa processing and online study will be clearly communicated on our website and to students with offers.
