COVID-19 and international students for New Zealand 2021-2022

Immigration New Zealand will refund roughly NZ$ 14 million in visa fees, and officially cancel the files that were suspended in August 2020

New Zealand will not accept new international student applications until 2022. New international students can re-apply when normal border operations and visa services start up again.

Student visa applicants who are outside New Zealand can study online without a visa. When New Zealand’s border restrictions are lifted, you can provide evidence of your online study to support your visa application. If you choose to study online in your home country first, you will still need to meet standard student visa requirements to be granted a student visa.
