Heretaunga College offers a successful High School Programme for students from around the world. In addition to our normal classes we have an English Language Programme and a Golf Academy in partnership with the famous Royal Wellington Golf Club situated at Heretaunga in Upper Hutt.

We are a secondary school in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, located just 25 km from Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. We have over 700 students, both boys and girls, ranging in age from 12 - 18 years. The school is situated in the picturesque Hutt River valley.
Heretaunga College holds its own with New Zealand's best secondary schools. Not only do we offer an excellent education, but we believe our leadership, staff, facilities and programmes are also first class. Heretaunga College focuses on the individual worth of each person and we make efforts to keep the environment caring and student-centred.
We actively search for innovative ways of teaching and working with students to help them learn. We cater for a wide range of learners and prefer mixed-ability settings which allow students to see that we value all learners equally.
We take our role in developing the leaders of tomorrow seriously. We give opportunity for as many students as possible to develop their skills by providing training and an effective leadership structure. Each year we take our Year 12 students out of school to develop their understanding of what leadership is and the ways in which each of them can take up a leadership role in Year 13. The executive leaders are trained further in their responsibilities with each one being asked to set goals. Training also includes essential skills such as speech making.
Most international students join our High School programme. Students are taught in our regular classes with New Zealand (Kiwi) students. International students have the experience of being educated in one of the best performed education systems in the world. Students will normally join the High School Programme on a term by term basis although shorter term placements are considered.

Students wanting intensive tuition in English language to improve their spoken and written English will apply to join our English Language programme.
Golf Academy: Student who wish to improve their golf skills are able to join the Golf Academy. This means that their High School Programme will be enhanced by golf tuition through the Royal Wellington Golf Club.
Elite Sports: Students can add to their High School experience by joining the Elite Sports Programme at Year 12 & 13. This programme is for our best sports men and woman and is designed to help improve attitudes that lead to success and skills that enhance performance in their chosen sport. Students will have access to our excellent coaches and local facilities as well as the opportunity to play for one of our school teams.
School of Hospitality: Heretaunga College has limited places available for students who want an accredited qualification in basic cookery that is recognised by the hospitality industry in New Zealand and internationally.
Equestrian: The school is ideally located for students who have an interest in horse activities of all types. We can provide homestay in families who have horses and/or provide access to horses for riding. The students interest can be in competitions or in riding for pleasure.

TUITION FEE (2018 prices)
NZ$ 4,000 for a 6 weeks short term stay
NZ$ 6,860 for one term (3months) including homestay
NZ$ 14,220 for one semester (6 months) including homestay
NZ$ 26,100 for one year (11 months) including homestay
Optional activities account. A deposit of NZ$ 250 is made to cover things such as stationery, school trips, sports fees, magazines, school ball, etc. The unused portion will be refunded when the student departs.
Golf Academy and Equestrian Academy
NZ$ 2,000 in addition to tuition fees and homestay fee
English Language Programme
NZ$ 350 per week plus homestay fee
